Round three on Saturday was highlighted by Metro's big win against Spring Gully Bigpond, and BLTC Rising Sun beat Spring Gully Brougham Arms in a thriller.
Metro capped a meteoric rise from cellar dwellers last year to now be top dogs, albeit in the early stages of the season.
The men’s singles were the key for Metro, with the imposing Bigpond line-up of Jack Baker, Frank Ryan, Jayd Davis and Brad Slingo unable to register a set against Metro’s Zac Lethlean, Isaac Watson, Ryan Leader and Sam McHarg.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Bigpond;
Baker won both of his doubles sets, while Heather Robbins had an 8-4 win against Tamara Wright.
BLTC Metro 8 sets 79 games d Spring Gully Bigpond 4 sets 63 games.
Rising Sun's Michael Smyth got a big win over Jamie Brown, 8-6, but Brougham Arms captured the remaining three men’s singles.
Rebecca Tweed and Tova Penno were dominant in their singles against Danielle Bowles and Lynda Gallagher, respectively.
The Sun's Stuart Johansen and Penno beat Chris Chiappazzo and Gallagher in the final set, 8-3.
BLTC Rising Sun 6 sets 79 games d Spring Gully Brougham Arms 6 sets 77 games.
