THE Country Fire Authority is mourning the loss of a volunteer who died at Berriwillock on Saturday.
CFA Acting Chief Officer Steve Warrington has expressed his deepest sympathies to the family and colleagues of the CFA member aged in his 60s.
A CFA statement said the man died of a medical condition while helping a friend to conduct a private burn-off in Berriwillock.
''Brigades were then called to help bring the fire under control around 4.20pm. The man was not on active duty when he died,'' the statement said.
''Support has been offered to all CFA members affected by the tragic death.''
