THE Kerang Industrial Estate has received a timely boost with the state government announcing the Gannawarra Shire Council will receive a sizeable grant to help grow business opportunities in the region.
Member for Swan Hill Peter Walsh announced the shire would receive $204,000 from its Regional Growth Fund.
The Gannawarra Shire is also chipping in $205,000.
The money will be put towards building 14 new industrial sites at Tate Drive.
Mr Walsh said several businesses in the area had expressed interest in development opportunities in Kerang.
“The expansion project will generate survey and design works, the extension of power supplies to new allotments, water, sewer and drainage connections,” he said.
“The Tate Drive estate has generated $12 million in building investment and created 142 new jobs since it was established.”
Gannawarra Shire Council’s Economic Development manager Roger Griffiths said the funding will support ongoing business development in Kerang.
“The funding will secure new jobs and assist with diversifying the local economy," he said.
"It will also create confidence to attract further development."
