A STREAM of scooters, bikes and prams wound its way along the Bendigo Creek Trail, as families got out and about for the Fun Loong Fun Day on Saturday.
The sun was shining as a number of families made their way along the one, three and five kilometre tracks.
Walks started at Cooinda Park, Golden Square Football Oval and a site in Hargreaves Street.
The event finished up in Hargreaves Mall, where participants were kept occupied with a long list of entertainment including face painting, balloons, a petting zoo and a puppet show.
Volunteers from Scope sold soft drink, water and fruit kebabs, which proved a big hit among the kids.
Siobhan Gersbach completed the one kilometre track with her three sons, Max, 12, Josh, 11 and Sam, 8 and the family's two dogs.
She said the family was new to the area and the event had given them a chance to get to know the rest of the community.
"It was great to be part of such a wonderful event," she said.
"Bendigo is such a friendly community - we are so glad we joined in.
"It was great fun and the weather really turned it on which was a bonus."
Rob Bennett and his three children, Millie, 8, Will, 6 and Levi, 4 rode their scooters along the five kilometre track.
"The kids could not stop talking about how much fun they had," he said.
"It was great to do a bit of exercise and get the kids out and about."
Mr Bennett said he hoped the City of Greater Bendigo hosted the event again next year.
"It was really worthwhile - I hope they do it again."
The free event was put on by the City of Greater Bendigo and aimed to encourage central Victoria families to get outside and get active by taking part in a walk.
