AFTER a 0-2 start, Bendigo East will be gunning for its first win of the Bendigo Bowls Division season when it hosts Castlemaine on Saturday.
East is in the unfamiliar position of sitting on the bottom of the ladder after starting the season with losses to Golden Square (21 shots) and Eaglehawk (26).
The only East rink to have won a game so far is that of David Keenan.
Castlemaine is 1-1 and in fourth position on the ladder, with the rinks of Geoff Walsh and Rick Parr having started the season with a pair of wins.
Newly-promoted South Bendigo faces a daunting challenge at home against Eaglehawk.
South is 0-2, while Eaglehawk has made a brilliant start to the season with wins over reigning premier Bendigo and Bendigo East by a combined 70 shots, during which it has scored the maximum 36 points.
In other games in round three, Bendigo hosts Inglewood and Golden Square is at home to Kangaroo Flat.
