BFNL still interested in attracting Murray Bombers
THE Bendigo Football-Netball League will continue to pursue Echuca to rejoin the competition it left 40 years ago.
AFLCV regional operations manager Justin Abrams said on Friday the BFNL was still "enthusiastic" to discuss with Echuca the prospect of it joining the competition from 2015.
Echuca plays in the Goulburn Valley Football League, winning just one senior game this year, but is a former BFNL club.
The Murray Bombers previously played in the BFNL until 1973, before leaving for the GVFL, where they have since won five premierships.
Abrams in August played down the BFNL's approach to Echuca, but indicated on Friday the league was keen to pursue the Murray Bombers for 2015.
"We are still enthusiastic to speak and keep the dialogue open with Echuca," Abrams said.
"There's a process we've got to go through, but we'd certainly like to talk about 2015 with them."
