ONE of Maiden Gully or Spring Gully will be celebrating their first win of the EVCA season on Saturday night.
Spring Gully will defend a score of 9-251 at Evolution Oval.
The Crows, who were sent into bat, have Shaun Makepeace to thank for their competitive score after he made his eighth century for the club last week with a knock of 111.
It’s a gettable score for Maiden Gully if its top-order can stand up, unlike round one against Golden Gully.

RANGAS ON TRACK FOR FIRST VICTORY
MANDURANG is well on track to post its first win of the season in its game against Sedgwick at Pearce Reserve.
The Rangas dismissed Sedgwick for 197, with captain Dustin Elliott (81) scoring the bulk of the Rams’ runs.
Mandurang made the most of its 11 overs at the crease last week, racing to 1-57 at stumps.
The batsman out is Rhys Williams (4), who was trapped lbw by Scott McKenzie, with Matt Giri (43 n.o.) and Keiran Burns (8 n.o.) to resume.

PANTHERS ON PROWL AGAINST REDBACKS
MARONG will be striving to make it two-from-two to start the season when its continues its clash with West Bendigo at Marong Links Oval.
Marong has been set a target of 240 to win after the Redbacks, chasing their first win of the season, last week compiled 9-239 after winning the toss and batting.
Joel Purdy batted well for West Bendigo in making 71, while Marong’s Jayden Laubsch (5-42) took the first five-wicket haul for the season.

CAN THE COBRAS UPSET UNITED?
GOLDEN Gully will be striving for a long-awaited win over perennial power United in their game at California Gully.
The Cobras have found the going tough against United in recent seasons, but they’re in this game.
They made 9-231 last week, and while they will need to bowl well against the powerful United batting line-up, they’ve given themselves a chance.
Saturday’s winner will improve to 2-0 to start the season.
