BENDIGO Health's Intensive and Coronary Care Unit is making the most of a new $87,000 piece of equipment.
The echocardiography machine was recently donated to the unit by the Blue Ribbon Foundation Bendigo branch.
Unit manager Sue Tomlinson said the machine would enable staff to take advantage of advances in intensive care diagnostics.
“An echocardiography machine is a piece of equipment that provides ultrasonic imaging of the heart and supplies valuable information about cardiac function,” Ms Tomlinson said.
“Critically ill patients commonly have multiple organ failure and sometimes it is difficult to determine the contribution made by a failing heart."
Blue Ribbon works to honour the memory of members of the Victoria Police killed in the line of duty by supporting worthwhile community projects. The foundation has contributed more than $300,000 to Bendigo Health.
