PLANNING works on a major upgrade of the Calder Alternative Highway intersection at Ravenswood are set to start.
A number of lanes will be closed temporarily as pre-construction surveys of the highway begin next week.
VicRoads will use detailed surveys of creeks, hills, roads, bridges and fences in order to design a 3D model of the planned upgrade.
The federal government and state government have jointly committed to fund the $86 million overpass at the site that has been labelled a traffic blackspot.
VicRoads said the initial activities will be carried out between 7am and 6pm each day (weather permitting) between late October and mid December.
