Lao Airlines plane crash: DFAT says six Australians killed
Six Australians have been killed when a Lao Airlines plane crashed into the Mekong River during a violent storm in Laos.
None of the 44 passengers and five crew aboard the French-made ATR twin-turbo plane survived the crash near the southern city of Pakse, Lao officials said.
Carnival's key dates may change
The spring carnival could be in for a dramatic revamp, with the potential for a swap of weekends for the Cox Plate and Caulfield Cup one of the possibilities being discussed.

- A new fund-raising appeal will be launched on Thursday to coincide with the unveiling of Bendigo's Heritage Signature Quilt.
The quilt dates back to 1895 and features 270 signatures along with the St John’s Cross.
- Bendigo athlete Ashleigh Hutchins has returned home after celebrating success at the World Dwarf Games in the US state of Michigan.
Ashleigh will share her stories about the Games.
