THE Martin family is getting into the spirit for the FunLoong Fun Day on Saturday.
Leigh, Lauren and their two children Hudson and Byron are prepared for the community event put on by the City of Greater Bendigo.
As part of the event the council is encouraging people young and old to cycle, scoot or walk the Bendigo Creek Trail on Saturday.
Participants can choose from three different starting points at Cooinda Park, the Golden Square Football Oval or the vacant land next to 505 Hargreaves Street.
All pathways lead to Hargreaves Mall, where organisers say an exciting family celebration awaits.
Local 3BO radio personality Bec Chalmer will be the master of ceremonies, with helium balloons and face painting among the festivities.
The Kazoos, the Krazy Koala Puppet Show, Animals 2 U, Hiphopportunities and singers Cassie and Pat Ward will be among the entertainers taking part in the event.
City of Greater Bendigo mayor Lisa Ruffell said the city was proud to present the FunLoong Fun Day.
She hopes lots of greater Bendigo children will be able to enjoy the day with their family and friends.
“This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to get outside and get active, and be rewarded with exciting entertainment at the end of the walk,” mayor Ruffell said.
“There are plenty of local acts that will keep the kids entertained and parents can make the most of surrounding cafes and shops that will be open throughout the event.”
Representatives from Scope will also sell fruit kebabs and bottled water throughout the event to raise money for their organisation.
A courtesy bus will be provided for a return to all three of the starting points at the end of the event.
The designated pick-up point is Sidney Myer Place which is on the corner of Williamson Street and Pall Mall.
The event will run between 11am and 2pm.
