THE Boundary Riders may have been singing the blues but there were smiles all round.
The group of motorbike enthusiasts held an Oozin’ Blues day on Saturday to raise money for Bendigo man Quentin "Blackie" Blackmore, who was left a paraplegic after a car collided with his motorcycle in February this year.
Around a hundred people turned up to support the event and enjoy the music at the Royal Hotel in Inglewood with all funds going towards Quentin Blackmore and his family.
The Oozin' Blues Band and support act Stringybark McDowell took to the stage and got the crowds singing.
And there were beef rolls on hand courtesy of the Royal Hotel and The Inglewood Butcher.
According to Boundary Rider Mick Darcy the event was a good success.
“Yeah we did all right. It was a fun day and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“We raised around $1600 for Quentin, which is a good start.
The whole family is very thankful for what the Boundary Riders have done
"Now we have our next event in two weeks."
The Boundary Riders are now looking forward to their next event on October 27 when they are hosting a fundraising ride for Quentin and Family.
They are inviting other riders to join them for the day with the bikes leaving from the Boundary Hotel at 10am and returning around 3pm.
Meanwhile Quentin’s family, several of whom attended Saturday’s event, said they were grateful for what the Boundary Riders are doing.
“The whole family is very thankful for what the Boundary Riders have done,” said Quentin’s brother Zane Blackmore.
“They did it completely off their own bat, which is unreal.
“It is just brilliant as far as community support is concerned. It would be hard to do anything without that support.”
And Quentin's older brother Ron agreed.
"I went along on Saturday to represent he family and it was just fantastic.
"It was beautiful weather wise, there were good numbers and the band was fantastic and got everyone going.
"It is great to have that support especially now we are building up to the main auction."
The family is set to host a massive Quentin Blackmore Family Fundraiser on November 2 with a live auction and raffle.
