AXEDALE'S Kris Mueck is equal second going into Saturday's third round at the Western Australian Open golf championship at Mount Lawley.
Mueck started Friday's round as tournament leader on seven-under.
There were just three birdies on day two as he finished at six-under.
Mueck parred 11 holes, but also had four bogeys.
"It was much more of a battle today,” said Mueck.
“I didn’t hit it very straight off the tees. It was hard from there.”
He will start Saturday's play a shot behind Steve Jones and level with David Bransdon on six-under.
The run for another of central Victoria's golfing aces, Andrew Martin ended after a second-round of six-over.
Martin did par 13 holes, but four bogeys and a double bogey at the par five 14th were costly as he finished on five-over after two rounds in tricky conditions.
