AN Irish musician says he has been overwhelmed by support after experiencing racial abuse at a Bendigo pub.
Martin "Paddy" Dolan has had emails and well wishes from strangers around the world who heard of his ordeal where his instrument was broken and he was told to "go back to where you came from".
Irish company Michael Vignoles Bodhrans, based in County Galway, said they would make him a new hand-crafted Bodhran drum. Mr Dolan said the company who made his original drum had also offered to fix his for free.
He said he was planning a performance at the Goldmines Hotel next month. He originally cancelled the gig because of fear but said he was looking forward to playing.
Goldmines owner Fatty Anderson said he was glad Paddy was keen to play again after the "bulls..t" he went through.
"It's the least we can do to host it," he said.
The lunchtime set is at the hotel's blues bar on November 17.
