JUST $5 can give someone in the developing world access to an eye examination and a pair of glasses.
That’s why Eyecare Plus Bendigo owner and optometrist Mark Prince is donating his examination fees on Thursday to charity World Sight Day Challenge.
About 400 optometry practices across Australia are taking part in the month-long global campaign, which aims to end avoidable blindness in developing countries.
Eyecare Plus Bendigo staff will also be encouraging customers to offer a donation to the charity.
“It’s a great charity and a good thing to be part of,” Mr Prince said.
“We will be telling people about the charity over the next few weeks.
“We have wrist bands on sale as well.”
It is the third year Eyecare Plus Bendigo has participated in the campaign.
More than 600 million people in the world are blind or vision impaired because they do not have access to an eye exam or glasses.
