THE countdown is on to reveal the winner of the 2013 Bendigo Inventor Awards.
This year’s winners are set to be announced at a Gala Awards Ceremony held tonight at the Capital.
More than 300 people are expected to attend the event which will see 25 finalists vying for one of the major award categories and a share of over $30,000 in prizes.
Dawn Holland, the Business Innovation Officer at City of Greater Bendigo said she is excited about this year’s Ceremony.
“We’ve received some fantastic entries most of which will be on display between 4pm and 6.30pm at the Capital Theatre.
“We have an exciting evening planned with special guest speakers Oscar winning Animator Adam Elliot and Business Innovation Catalyst Dougal Edwards.”
Meanwhile, Bendigo man and finalist John Keane is waiting to see how his invention the ‘JK Jigger’, a blast suppressor, will fare.
“I entered as I am local to Bendigo and no one has seen any of these before, it is a world first," he said.
“I worked in the goldmine for over six years and there is a common problem that I found a way to fix.
"If you look at what our product costs and what you save using it you would be mad not to use it."
