TWO men who stood trial over the gang rape of a young Bendigo mother have had all outstanding charges against them withdrawn.
The Office of Public Prosecutions this week filed a notice with the County Court to discontinue the remaining charges against Mohammed Saeed Elnour and Mohammed Hussain Zaoli.
The pair were facing a possible re-trial over one count of rape and one count of false imprisonment of a 21-year-old woman in her Flora Hill home in January, 2011.
Both men were found not guilty by a jury in March this year of two counts of rape.
A discontinuance notice confirmed the men would not face re-trial and would have all outstanding charges withdrawn.
The men were accused of raping the woman while her children, aged two and four, slept nearby.
Zaoli has served 14 days in prison after he was found guilty of one charge of indecent assault of the woman.
Three youths were jailed in March last year for their involvement in the rape, while another two men have been cleared of their involvement.
