FAMILY holidays for me always ended up in Lakes Entrance.
When I was a petulant teenager, I didn’t understand the sheer beauty of this place.
But on my return after two years overseas, I was rendered speechless when driving into the small beach-side town.
The view from the Princes Highway is nothing short of spectacular - the treacherous entrance sits behind the illuminatingly blue Gippsland lakes, with the cute, compact town sitting right in the middle.
There are two good surf beaches, a pool, several good quality fish and chips places, and three mini golf courses. If you want to set up camp for a week and relax, Lakes Entrance is the place for it.
