BENDIGO winegrowers are hoping for a vintage turnout to this weekend's Heritage Uncorked wine tasting event.
The two-day event will pair the region’s best wines with gourmet food from Bendigo restaurants.
In its 18th year, it has grown to become one of the biggest days on the calendar for the Bendigo Winegrowers Association.
Coordinator Wes Vine said it was a great chance for local winegrowers to showcase their wines alongside some fine food.
He said there was a strong focus on matching up the food with well-suited wines.
“It’s an ideal event to sample local wines," he said.
“We usually get a strong crowd and we're not seeing just local people, but a good proportion of people coming from Melbourne and elsewhere.”
A display in the Chinese gardens and tastings at GPO restaurant will feature as new additions to this year’s event.
Other venues involved are the Bendigo Town Hall, Wine Bank on View, La Piazza, Hotel Shamrock and Bunja Thai restaurant.
Mr Vine said he was expecting a crowd of about 600 across the two days. He said tickets must be bought in advance.
Tickets are $110 or $100 per person for groups of six or more on the Sunday, and can be purchased through the Bendigo Visitor Centre by calling 1800 813 153 or online at bendigotourism.com
