BENDIGO riders have put the foot down and motored to some top results at the Australian Junior Motocross Championships in Horsham last week.
About 350 riders from Australia and New Zealand braved the conditions which changed wildly from severe storms to dry and hot weather at the Dooen MX track.
After a year he would like to forget, which included breaking his foot at the start of the season, Liam Andrews showed his class to finish second overall in the nine-to-11-year-olds' 65cc division.
Andrews only returned to racing in August, but he was one of the most consistent riders across the week of qualifying, heats and finals.
The young gun also competed in the 85cc class for nine-to-12-year-olds.
Ty Kean put in a champion effort in five-striaght finals in the 50cc motorbike class.
Kean finished in the top-four in four of the finals and took out fourth place overall at his first Australian titles.
Brodie and Carson James also took it right up to their rivals.
Both qualified for finals before finishing in the top 20 of their classes.
