HUNDREDS of people from across the state stopped by the Bendigo Orchid Club’s annual show across the weekend.
Australian native and exotic orchids were just some of the orchids on display throughout the three-day-show.
Bendigo Orchid Club president Ross Pascoe said the show was a success.
“On Friday we judged all the flowers and then we opened the doors up and 1pm and there was a line-up at the door to get in,” he said.
“There was quite a queue.
“Most people made a bee line to the sales table; we were cleaned out by that afternoon.”
Mr Pascoe said more than 500 people walked through the Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre doors throughout the show.
He said this year’s show produced some high quality flowers.
“John Martin and Andrew Francis who live in Merrigum, near Kyabram, took out both the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion awards,” Mr Pascoe said.
“They were actually awarded the HCC, which is a highly commended certificate, it is a prestigious award.”
Mr Pascoe said this year would be the last the club would have the show at the Kangaroo Flat Leisure Centre.
“We have been in Kangaroo Flat for a long time now,” he said.
“Next year we are actually relocating to California Gully to Truscott Reserve.
“We thought that would be a good spot to have the show.”
Mr Pascoe said if anyone would like to join the Bendigo Orchid Club they could contact him on 0419 100 980.
