BENDIGO'S Jack Haig is celebrating one of the biggest victories of his road racing career after Sunday's finish to the Caterpillar Tour of Tasmana.
The victory has put Haig on top of the Subaru Australia national road series leaderboard.
Haig led Bendigo clubmate Robbie Hucker by one minute and 43 seconds as they lined up for the finale to the classic, a 54km criterium at Devonport.
Both stayed out of trouble in a stage won by Tasmania's Ben Grenda.
Bendigo cyclists were in superb form in Tasmania.
Racing for Huon Genesys, Haig and Hucker from Drapac were first and second.
Another of Bendigo's and Drapac's stars, Darren Lapthorne was fourth overall at 3 minutes 18 seconds behind Haig.
An outstanding tour by Haig included being runner-up in the King of the Mountain battle.
Drapac was the No. 1 team and Huon Genesys was second.
A class all-rounder, Haig has excelled at road and mountain bike racing.
