THE Bendigo Braves' rebuild has officially begun.
Star big men Ivan McFarlin and Tom Garlepp have chosen not to return to Bendigo next SEABL season.
It means the Braves will have to replace their three biggest stars - including guard Jazz Ferguson.
"The reality is it hurts now, but I thought that would be the case anyway," Braves coach Ben Harvey said.
"It's 61 points out of our (average) 81 points a game. It's a big loss, but I'll be working hard to make sure we rebuild again.
"It's going to be very hard work, but I can guarantee we will have a very good team on the floor next year."
US import McFarlin played three seasons with the Braves.
The 31-year-old was named the east conference player of the year in 2011 and was picked in the SEABL's All-Star Team each season.
Harvey hailed the big American as one of the Braves' greatest imports.
"Not only was he a great player, he was a great team-mate, a great guy in the community, a great friend," Harvey said.
Garlepp won the Braves' MVP last year.
The Sydney Kings forward had similar numbers in 2013 - nearly 20 points and eight rebounds per game.
But Garlepp indicated to Harvey that he's unlikely to play SEABL next year.
"He's getting married and needs to look after a couple of injuries," Harvey said.
