CHANGE your clocks, change your fire alarm battery.
It’s a simple idea the CFA want everyone follow twice a year when daylight saving starts and ends.
Clocks go forward an hour on Sunday morning.
Bendigo CFA Senior Station officer Tim Fitzgerald said fire alarms saved lives.
“It’s really important to change the battery at least twice a year to prevent the battery going flat,” he said.
“When you put a new battery in, press the button and make sure it beeps.”
Mr Fitzgerald also recommended cleaning fire alarms out with a vacuum once a week.
“Dust can reduce their efficiency, so when you do your vacuuming, stick the nozzle in to clean it."
