Robbo back in Magpie nest

THE last man to coach Castlemaine to a premiership - Shane Robertson - is returning to lead the Magpies in the Bendigo Football League.

The Magpies announced on Thursday the appointment of Robertson as their new coach.

Robertson previously coached Castlemaine to the 2000 premiership, while he also led the Magpies into the 1999 grand final.

Since leaving Castlemaine, Robertson - who played in Carlton's 1987 VFL premiership - coached Hepburn to four Central Highlands Football League flags.

Robertson coached Goulburn Valley Football League club Seymour this year.
