THE Anglican Parish of Woodend will be hosting its annual “Blessing of the Animals” services next week.
The parish reverend Doctor Peta Sherlock will bless cats, dogs, mice, rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, birds and reptiles on Sunday October 13.
Two services will be held on the day, the first will be at 9am at St George’s in Trentham and the second at 10.30am at St Mary’s in Woodend.
“Even if you’ve not got a pet you’re more than welcome to come and join in the fun and stay for morning tea afterwards,” said reverend Sherlock.
The blessing will take place during the Eucharist service which is set to go for about an hour.
Reverend Sherlock said it was customary for Catholics and Anglicans to bless animals at this time of year. For more information about the services visit www.woodendanglican.org.au or visit the Woodend Anglican Facebook page.
