THE annual Golden Plate Awards is about to come to a close.
In its second year in Bendigo and central Victoria the prestigious awards aim to recognise the excellence in hospitality in regional Victoria.
The initiative sees some of the regions most acclaimed hotels, restaurants and cafes go head-to-head.
The awards will again focus on 36 criteria this year, with the major categories food quality and presentation, customer service, value for money, coffee, wine quality and ambience.
Awards project manager Pamela Jewson said the number of Bendigo and central Victorian entrant’s in this year’s awards has grown in comparison to last year.
"It is a fantastic time of year," she said. “We had a huge interest in Bendigo.
"The competitors have really got behind the awards.
"There has been double the amount entrants this year.”
Ms Jewson said the awards will be presented to the winners at a gala ceremony later this month.
