BENDIGO pubs have been in full voice for the AFL Grand Final.
The Metro and Puggs Irish bar was brimming throughout the day, with a mix of Hawthorn and Fremantle jerseys.
Crowds ventured in from around the city, as well as a number of groups from Mornington Peninsula on their football trips.
Players from Bonbeach Football Club declared it a great success and said they were savouring the sights and sounds of Bendigo on their visit.
Venue manager Emma Williams said it was one of the biggest days of the year.
She said people were in great spirits and were kicking on for the entire day.
"It's always a good event," she said.
"It's fairly busy behind the bar. We probably have a steady crowd in while the game's on and then more people streaming in for the night."
At Newmarket Hotel the mood was equally buoyant.
The pub's social club held their annual Grand Final function, with a pre-game happy hour.
Leanne Papallo said she loved the social occasion.
"It's a fun day," she said.
"Everyone has a good time."
Hotel owner Des Pedretti said regardless of who was playing it always drew a strong crowd.
He said he has been having big grand final day celebrations at the pub for 10 years.
"We wouldn't miss out," he said.
"Even if there's less people here than usual it's a great day. People bring the kids here, have a bit of a day out. It's lots of fun, there's always a good atmosphere."
Mr Pedretti decked the bar in balloons and streamers.
