HIS best work is done in attack, but Jordan Ilsley has soared above the rest to earn the AFL Coaches Association Wingman award for 2013.
Ilsley, 18, was among 16 finalists from country and metropolitan football-netball leagues.
The Wingman recognises players aged 18 to 25 for their off-field leadership.
"To win a state award is a massive honour," Ilsley said on Friday.
Stats, canteen duty, packing the trailer are just a few of the many tasks he does at Eaglehawk Football Netball Club.He was leading goalkicker for the under-18s.
He teams with Eaglehawk FNC president Andrew Reid to help run a breakfast program at California Gully Primary School every Friday on behalf of Empowering Eaglehawk and the YMCA.
"Being recognised in this way by the AFL Coaches, and by the Bendigo Football Netball League means a lot to me," said Ilsley.
Jordan's grandfather, George Ilsley starred for the Hawks in the 40s and 50s.
