IN THEIR own words, the girls from Stonefield are “really super excited”.
And they have reason to be.
Their debut album comes out on October 11, a national tour kicks off on October 24 and on November 30 they open for Fleetwood Mac.
Guitarist Hannah Findley said the band put a bit of pressure on themselves to get the album done.
“It’s great to be getting the music out on a full length record,” she said. “It’s definitely a relief but we didn’t need to (pressure ourselves)."
As a band, the four sisters form Darraweit Guim have been playing together for eight years.
When they first became Stonefield highlights like playing at Glastonbury or opening for Fleetwood Mac were far from mind.
“We just all loved playing a show to more than five people and hearing our song played on radio,” Hannah said.
“But this is something that never thought possible.”
When the band’s managers called about the Fleetwood Mac gig, the response was disbelief.
“Our managers called us and said you’re supporting Fleetwood Mac and we just said ‘hang on, say that again?’,” Hannah said.
“They are one of the bands a that a lot of people know all their songs.
The Fleetwood Mac gig and Meredith Music Festival in December present a grand finish to Stonefield’s tour.
“(Touring with my sisters) is pretty good,'' Hannah said.
''We’ve grown up with each other in the country, so it definitely doesn’t feel like work,
“Mum and dad usually come on tour with us but they only just stopped coming.”
While the national tour will be hectic, for now Stonefield will enjoy the release of their debut album.
“We hope that at least a few people enjoy it,” Hannah said.
“The main theme is growing up and the experiences we’ve had as band and in life.
“(Lead singer and drummer) Amy does most of lyrics but we jam everything out together.”
