ISAAC Buckell is determined to build on his tally of national championships throughout the spring-summer cycling action.
An incredible year for the Bendigo teenager has included gold in the national under-15s criterium at Wagga Wagga.
Buckell also struck gold on the track in the pursuit and time trial, and on the mountains.
"The criterium was an incredible race," Buckell said of the hit-out in Wagga Wagga.
"There were more than 50 in the field, and it was a really fast pace from the first lap."
Buckell led the field into the corner on the finishing straight and held off all challengers to win the 20-minute and three-lap duel.
"It was the first time I have raced at Wagga Wagga."
A hectic time for the year 8 student included representing Bendigo South East Secondary College in state mountain bike titles.
Cyclists from near and far were vying to qualify for the finals at Lysterfield Park.
Buckell is putting in plenty of work training on the roads and track.
He is one of many talented youngsters starring in the club's track racing and at meets across Victoria.
The Bendigo and District Cycling Club's track program continues to draw many competitors each Thursday night to the Tom Flood Sports Centre in Barnard Street.
