TWO drivers avoided serious injury after a collision which Castlemaine police say could have had more severe consequences.
A motorists driving on the Melbourne-bound side of the Calder Freeway near Taradale collected a car when moving from the left-hand lane to the right at about 10am Tuesday morning.
The two drivers lost control of their cars, with one car ending up in an empty Bendigo-bound lane.
Senior Constable Dave Semmens said the driver of the first car did not see the car in his blind spot.
"In the end, it could have been disastrous, but it ended up with no injuries," he said.
"There was no speed, drugs or alcohol involved, just poor driving."
The man was given a ticket for merging when unsafe.
