BENDIGO'S potential new $1million footy tipper couldn't care less which team wins the AFL Grand Final on Saturday.
Instead, Cam Penna will get sweaty palms at the opening bounce and after the final siren.
By winning the Bendigo Advertiser's TopTippa competition, Penna has earned a chance to win $1million on the last Saturday in September.
As well as winning two tickets to watch Hawthorn versus Fremantle at the MCG, Penna will get $1000 fantasy cash to bet on the match.
Penna and seven other TopTippa's will each place a bet and whoever collects the biggest payday will then get a one-in-200 shot at becoming a millionaire.
The winner will pick from 200 envelopes, one containing $1million and the rest holding $5000 each.
It's long odds, but Penna knows there's plenty of others who would like to be in his position.
"You've got to get past all the hurdles and then it's a one-in-200 chance, anyone would take that for a chance at a million (dollars)," Penna said.
The tipping genius has been planning his betting strategy in case he won the competition and knows where his fantasy cash will be going on Saturday.
"You only really want to place one bet and go for the highest odds," he said.
"In this case, I'm probably going to go for Hawthorn to get the first goal.
"You've got to go for broke and go for something that's got higher odds but is possible to occur.
"In my case the first couple of minutes will be the tense moments.
"But after the first score it all becomes quite irrelevant."
A mix of skill, footy smarts and a dose of luck got Penna this far.
He won the Bendigo Advertiser TopTippa with 155 tips - an average of almost seven per round.
All tips were weighted, with incentives to go for underdogs, and Penna only hit the front at round 22, before grimly hanging-on to take out first place.
The Geelong supporter can't lose on Saturday.
The worst case scenario is he pockets $500, as each of the seven TopTippa's who don't get a shot at the $1million will instead go for $25,000 - with $500 in the other 199 envelopes.
And so who is Penna's tip for the big dance?
"I will be hoping Fremantle wins, that's mostly just being a Geelong supporter so it would hurt too much to see Hawthorn get over the line," he said. "But I think Hawthorn have got a little bit too much class and experience."
