THE Bendigo Junior Braves under-14 girls hit, but the boys missed in the Victorian Junior League one grand finals on Friday.
The junior girls faced the Werribee Devils at Knox.
Bendigo had finished second on the ladder and was taking on the top team.
The match lived-up to its billing, with Bendigo triumphing 36-29.
The first term was almost score for score, before the Braves' defence locked-out the Devils in the second term.
Bendigo punished Werribee for its turnovers and opened a double-digit lead.
Werribee came out firing after half-time and pegged the score back to get within four points with 2.30 to play.
A timeout steadied Bendigo, which executed its shots down the stretch to clinch the title.
Bendigo's boys battled hard, but went down 39-49 to Ringwood.
Ringwood had finished one-point clear of Bendigo on the ladder and defeated the Braves 33-22 in their only other meeting.
