TWO arts organisations in Castlemaine have received extra funding from Arts Victoria's Organisations Investment Program.
The Castlemaine State Festival and Punctum will receive three years of funding through the program to help underpin their operations and deliver exciting artistic programs.
Member for Northern Victoria Amanda Miller announced the funding yesterday.
“This critical support provides a level of funding certainty so that the organisations can focus on creating great art, planning and building for the future and contributing to the vibrant cultural life of our region,” Mrs Millar said.
Punctum is an artists-led organisation that works to foster new approaches to collaborative performance making and audience engagement.
They will receive $50,000 next year while the Castlemaine State Festival will receive a $133,100 grant.
“Arts and cultural organisations play an important role in our region and right across the state," Ms Millar said.
"By investing in them, we are investing in Victoria’s liveability and the liveability and prosperity of our community.”
“I am pleased that our local arts organisations have been recognised in this statewide program and look forward to seeing what they can achieve over the next three years and beyond.”
The two organisations are one of 88 arts-based organisations to be awarded the multi-year funding.
“They are part of an extraordinary portfolio of arts and cultural organisations across our state that create jobs, inspire Victorians of all ages, and contribute to our reputation as Australia’s creative and
cultural centre," Ms MIllar said.
Minister for the Arts Heidi Victoria said the group of Victorian organisations will benefit from the program.
''It covers a wide range of arts forms and creative endeavours, provides jobs and opportunities for our creative professionals, engages many hundreds of thousands of Victorians and helps boost Victoria's international reputation as a centre for creativity and innovation,'' Ms Victoria said.
