There was a buzz around the Queen Elizabeth Oval (QEO) with supporters from Golden Square and Strathfieldsaye before players took to the field for the decider.
Bendigo put on a perfect day for footy with the sun shining for most of the afternoon.
People donned the Square colours of yellow and blue while Storm fans dressed in blue and white.
Coloured streamers were hung across the fence and balloons floated in the air, all to show the players their support.
Earlier on the day fans couldn’t split the two teams, with some saying Square would easily win while others said it was Strathfieldsaye’s time to shine.
About 8000 fans descended on the QEO for the big match, with Golden Square managing to secure its fifth-straight premiership.
Fans got to the ground early with the under 18s game first up.
Jim Chadwick said he travelled from Strathmore in Melbourne to see his grandson play in the under 18s final.
“My grandson, Josh Govan , he is the captain for Gisborne,” he said.
“We came up last week to the game and we came up again for the grand final.
“You have to show your support.”
Unfortunately for the Gisborne team they were unsuccessful in winning the premiership, going down to Sandhurst.
Mr Chadwick said it was important for family to support young players.
“I think it gives them a little bit of heart,” he said.
Golden Square supporter and mother Angela Harris said it was an exciting day.
“My son plays in the reserves for Golden Square,” she said.
“He played about six games in the senior side this year as well.
“It is his first year with the club so it is all very exciting.”
