BENDIGO residents will have the chance to get their hands on the much-awaited iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c on Friday.
The phones are expected to create plenty of interest with some communications suppliers expecting customers to queue at their doors.
“Some people just like being the first to get the new products,” Telstra Store licensee Nick Papaz said.
“There has been some excitement around the new phones – there’s a 5s model and a 5c model.
“The security part has been a really good thing with a lot of people excited about this finger-print security.
“Another key feature is the better camera, there’s a new operating system that’s actually come out.
“And the other feature, that some people are very excited about, is that it comes in lots of different colours.
“We’ve got blue, we’ve got pink, white, black and I think there’s a green one as well.
“And you’ve still got the black and white.”
Mr Papaz said there were strict rules around new iPhone launches.
Mr Papaz was not authorised to show the phones to the Bendigo Advertiser for a photo opportunity.
"The stock actually arrived on Thursday so I have seen them but I can't actually put them out until Friday morning," he said.
Bendigo's Telstra stores will open at 8am on Friday for the new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c launch.
"I expect there will be some people lining up," he said.
"We're not talking hundreds but at the last two launches there have been at least 10 or so people waiting to be the first.
"There's has been lots of interest but unfortunately we can't actually take pre-orders."
Yes Optus at Bendigo Marketplace will also open at 8am on Friday.
Sales consultant Kayla Homewoods said it would be a big day.
"A few people have already been calling about it," she said.
"The rules around the release are pretty strict - we can't even play with the demo phone."
