THE Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music is yet another feather in the city’s cap, says City of Greater Bendigo city futures director Stan Liacos.
Mr Liacos described festival director David Chisholm as “amazing”.
“I take my hat off to David,” Mr Liacos said.
“He’s an extraordinarily talented, creative and indeed, persistent gentleman.
""He just is amazing.
“He essentially delivered an event that is extremely rare and, on the surface, many would doubt that Bendigo could host such a niche musical event.
“It is a testament to David and his creative vision and his love of Bendigo that he’s pulled it off.”
Mr Liacos said the festival was a coup for Bendigo.
“This is yet another example of where Bendigo is punching well above its weight and increasingly doing things that would be the envy of major capital cities,” Mr Liacos said.
“I’m in awe of David’s courage and the city thanks him immensely.
“We would like to think that we would continue to give him a helping hand to see if we can deliver this event if not every year, at least every second year.”
The festival opened on Thursday and continued across the weekend.
Artists from across the world took part in the the inaugural festival which featured music from 15 different countries performed across recitals and concerts.
