EAGLEHAWK coach Luke Monaghan has seen just how ruthless Golden Square and Strathfieldsaye have been in their run to the Bendigo Football League grand final.
Just who is favourite to claim the Bendigo Advertiser premiership cup on Saturday is a tough call.
The Monaghan-coached Borough was beaten by Square in the qualifying final and by Storm in the preliminary final.
"Golden Square's ability to win contests and to get numbers to contests is extremely difficult to match," Monaghan said on Monday.
"Simon Rosa, Mark Lloyd and Nathan Bell win a lot of the footy and set up so much play.
"James Bristow is a big target and tough to beat in the air or at ground level."
Monaghan said Storm would be tested by Square's workrate at stoppages.
"Storm run and link really well. It's what they did at the start and late in our match on Saturday night.
"If Storm is allowed time and space they can hurt you.
"Sam Mildren and Lachlan Sharp are two of the best forwards in the league. Our defenders did well against them, but they still combined to kick nine goals."
Monaghan said Eaglehawk had improved dramatically from last season's sixth placing.
