A MAN was undergoing a psychiatric assessment last night after an armed siege at Murphy’s Creek near Tarnagulla.
The 25 year-old, who was armed with a bow and arrow and several knives, called police to a farm around 2pm yesterday.
Sergeant Steve Cunningham said about 10 officers from four stations attended the scene.
“He initially refused to exit the property,” Sergeant Cunningham said.
“After negotiations from the Inglewood sergeant he exited the property after two hours. We had a peaceful resolution.
“He’s being assessed by Bendigo mental health services.”
Sergeant Cunningham said the man’s mother had also been at the property.
“He didn’t threaten to harm her in any way though,” he said.
“It was mental health issues. The dog squad was requested from Melbourne but did not attend.”
The man has not been charged.
“There are no charges pending at this stage,” Sergeant Cunningham said.
Police from Maryborough, Inglewood, Tarnagulla and Serpentine attended the scene, as well as traffic units from the state highway patrol.
