Their daughter Emma Dean was the toast of Australia’s culinary industry when she won Network Ten’s MasterChef.
Rosie said the Dean family and Bendigo friends watched the reality show finale on the edge of their seats on Sunday night.
She said she was pretty excited to see her daughter take out the title of Australia’s best amateur chef.
“I thought she had a fairly good chance but I was getting anxious towards the end,” Rosie said.
Rosie and Ian have lived in Mandurang for more than 40 years.
Rosie described her daughter as a person who always loves to cook.
“She is a country girl at heart,” she said.
“She is very natural. What you see is what you get with her.”
Rosie said growing up Emma was always around food and loved to cook birthday cakes for her family.
“Last Christmas her and her boyfriend made this amazing meal for us,” she said.
“She also made a pirate ship birthday cake one year, that was fantastic.”
Rosie said despite her love of cooking, Emma also was a competitive sports person.
“She was into cycling, mainly track and sprints,” she said.
“She also got into triathlons and was also part of the Neangar Park Pony Club.
“She was very competitive when it came to sports.”
Rosie said she was looking forward to seeing what her daughter did next.
