BENDIGO’S iconic Sacred Heart Cathderal is turning blue for prostate cancer.
More than 30 banks of lights, each with about 20 globes, were turned on recently in a bid to raise awareness for men’s health.
But not everyone understands what it’s all about, says Bendigo District Prostate Cancer Support Group member Neil Macdonald.
“People have been talking about it on Facebook and asking, ‘’Why’s the Cathedral blue?,” he said.
“One even said it was because Carlton’s in the finals.
“That’s not it.
“The Bendigo District Prostate Cancer Support Group are running a campaign to paint the town blue and it’s to raise awareness for prostate cancer.
“It’s not about raising money, it’s about awareness.”
