BENDIGO fathers, grandfathers and loved ones took part in the second annual Run for Dad fundraiser on Sunday.
About 300 runners and walkers of all abilities completed either the run or the walk to raise awareness for prostate cancer research.
The Run for Dad saw participants take part in the 6.5 kilometre run from Eaglehawk to Bendigo or the 2.5 kilometre walk around Rosalind Park.
The event coincided with Father’s Day with many Dad’s taking to the track with their children.
St John of God director of Mission Patrick Byrne said this year’s had grown much bigger than last year.
“This is the first year we have introduced the walk, what we have noticed is that it is a family day,” he said.
“There was lots of families at the finish line of the run wanting to do something so hence we introduced the walk this year and it has been quite popular.”
Mr Byrne said last year the run raised approximately $5000 and hoped to raise more than that this year.
