POLICE are calling for motorists to take extra care on country roads after the second car crash in Axedale in two days overnight.
A man escaped serious injury after crashing his car into a tree early Saturday morning in Axedale.
It followed another car crash at about 4pm on Friday, where a man ran off the road and hit a tree on Goornong Road.
Bendigo police’s Sergeant Rosie Rowe said police were still investigating the cause of last night’s crash, but speed and alcohol had not been ruled out.
Sergeant Rowe said the two crashes were a timely reminder to motorists to extra care on country roads.
“Country roads are a different driving environment to city roads.
“Quite often if people have been driving a distance fatigue can set in, plus there are animals crossing and that sort of thing to keep an eye out for.”
