BENDIGO Health has recorded an increase in the number of gastroenteritis
cases presented at its emergency department.
Bendigo Health is urging people to seek assistance from their general practitioners before going to the hospital.
Some of the symptoms of gastro include abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, bloating, diarrhoea, generally feeling unwell, including lethargy and body aches, loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting.
Treatments for managing symptoms include drinking water, oral rehydration drinks and antibiotics.
Bendigo Health's Infection Control team advises the transmission of gastro occurs through contact and people should be careful with increased hand washing and the use of anti-bacterial gel.
