FOURTEEN people will lose their jobs when Bendigo-based Phillips Bricks and Pottery closes next month.
The business has been owned by the Selkirk Group since 1982.
Chief executive Simon Meadows said increased manufacturing and energy costs, and red tape, had forced the closure.
“A combination of an ageing manufacturing facility and the effects of a significantly depressed housing construction environment in Victoria have led to the business becoming financially unviable,” he said.
Mr Meadows said the company would make redundancy payments and provide job support.
He said staff would be redeployed where possible.
More than 100 people work at Selkirk Brick in Ballarat .
