BENDIGO police are hunting a confectionary thief who has broken into Bendigo East Swimming Pool twice in the past month.
Police attended the pool yesterday after an attempted burglary on Wednesday night.
Leading Senior Constable Scott Whitzell said the person used force to break open a door and search an office.
The person did not appear to take anything.
“They searched through the whole building and kiosk area and attempted to load lollies, drinks and chips into bags,” Leading Senior Constable Whitzell said.
“They tried to make a getaway but left most of the stuff behind.”
Bendigo East Swimming Pool morning shift lifeguard Geoff Baeck said the same thing happened a few weeks ago.
“It was the same kind of activity as last time,” he said.
“The person got in, ratted around and tried to find money and hasn’t found any, so then put confectionary into a rubbish bag. He’s taken off and left them all there.
“He must really like lollies.”
Mr Beack said while he was relieved the thief had not taken anything, it was still frustrating.
“The worst thing is the damage this person does to the place.
“I’m not happy about it.”
Anyone with any information on the break-ins should contact Bendigo police on 5448 1300 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
