THE promise of fast-paced thrills will lure more than 200 motorbike riders to the Ravenswood Cup this Sunday.
The Bendigo Motorcycle Club’s biggest annual event is revving up for another year of intense competition on one of Victoria’s most unique tracks.
The BMC has been racing at Ravenswood since 1933 and the challenging circuit keeps riders and spectators coming back.
Riders have flocked from as far away as Queensland and Western Australia for this year’s event.
Victorian over-30 champion Craig Rutherford is one of the local riders set to do battle against competitors half his age.
While there’s sure to be excitement on the track, the meet also benefits the wider community.
The BMC is a not-for-profit organisation and donates any proceeds from the Ravenswood Cup to charity.
In total, the club has donated more than $50,000. The Kiwanis Club of Bendigo – an organisation dedicated to supporting disadvantaged and needy children – is set to benefit from this year’s event.
Practice riding starts on Saturday from noon to 4.30pm, before the main event from 10am on Sunday.
