BENDIGO police are searching for “Fredo”.
The Fredo pen-name featured in a graffiti spree at the Chinese Gardens and surrounding areas on Monday morning.
Senior Constable Charlie Heatherley said he was hopeful someone would recognise the tag.
He said whoever was responsible for the tag had caused thousands of dollars in criminal damage.
“Somebody out there knows this Fredo,” he said.
“If he uses the tag often someone has got to have seen it. The person may well have it written on their bedroom wall, or on their skateboard, or school books.”
“There must be parents or friends who could recognise the tag.” Another slogan that featured at the Golden Dragon museum, and nearby Farmers Lane, was “Golden Square Elite”.
Senior Constable Heatherley said the graffiti was a “big concern”.
“It’s highly visible and extremely offensive,” he said.
“We’ve got a graffiti log of different tags we refer to. So there can be significant fines.”
Police will continue to review security footage of the nearby area.
