AXEDALE, Murphys Creek and Baringhup West will receive new fire stations under funding unveiled by the state government on Monday.
Victorian Police and Emergency Services Minister Kim Wells visited the site of the new $1.2 million co-located CFA and SES complex in Marong.
The new stations are part of
$61 million committed in the 2013-14 Budget to boost fire stations across the state.
Construction on a new $530,000 station in Axedale will begin in November and is estimated to be completed by February next year.
A new $255,000 station at Baringhup is expected to be finished by next March and the $275,000 Murphys Creek station should be finished by May.
Mr Wells said the government was delivering on its commitment to build 250 new stations across Victoria in its first term.
“We are proud of the vital work performed by CFA, one of the world’s largest volunteer organisations.
“The Coalition will continue to support CFA volunteers by providing them with the facilities and equipment they need to save lives and property.”
Mr Wells also announced that construction at the new Marong site would begin shortly by Ballarat’s MKM Construction. The project is on track for completion by November.
“The population in Maiden Gully and Marong is expected to increase significantly over the next 20 years and this new facility builds for the future and ensures residents on Bendigo’s urban fringe are better protected,” he said.
